Summer vibes in Thames Ditton

A fantastic project in Thames Ditton near the river for a family who have remodelled the entire house and are now starting on the garden.  Being from South Africa eating out doors is a huge part of how they like to entertain and the new extension's opens on two sides with bifold doors allowing a completely seamless route into the garden.  The room houses a stunning braai (log burning BBQ) and will mean even on the dullest of English summer days outdoor living and entertaining is still possible.  The garden also features a sunken hot tub surrounded by colourful perennial planting and grasses.  A wooden pontoon connects the main terrace to the lawn and onto the home office / cabin and fire-pit area.  This is situated nestled in a wooded copse of multi stemmed silver birch and more colourful planting.  A simple sleeper installation creates privacy and separation from the rest of the garden without blocking the full completely.

Beautiful family garden situated in Thames Ditton by the river.  The brief of the garden was to create a series of spaces that would allow for BBQs and parties int he summer a sunny separate seating area and a big lawn.  Down the bottom of the garden is a new garden office and storage and space for trampoline, table tennis table and even a productive garden for veg and salad.  The planting is a modern mix of evergreen shrubs for structure, grasses for colour and movement and plenty of wonderful perennials to bring colour throughout the seasons.

Alexandra Crescent

Client had just completed a new refurbishment and extension and created beautiful view points out to the garden through sliding doors.  We looked to change the garden space into a series of rooms where they could BBW, eat, and relax.  We also wanted to ensure with the design that the client felt connected to the garden when inside the house as well as outside.  Low level planting is taken right up to the glass doors and a simple plank stepping stone pathway leads you out through the planting into the rest of the garden.

Hampton Court garden by the river.

This modern house by the river had been left with the standard developers garden space with no real thought to the design or how the space could be used.  The steps were too steep, the patio too small and the rest was laid to lawn with some simple planting on the side.  We were instructed to create a modern, colourful garden with clean lines and to create a space to sit out and enjoy a coffee and also for bigger meals by the BBQ.

The brief on this garden was to redesign the whole rear garden but to address a key issue of access into the raised home office at the bottom of the garden.  A seating area with floating hardwood bench, contemporary clay pavers and a ramped entrance flanked by raised beds ready for planting.  The planting scheme will bring year round colour, structure and interests and sits within the established shrubs along the boundary and new fencing.

ClockHouse Road

The current owners have done a stunning job in completely renovating and extending the house and had come to the point where the garden needed some attention.  We were briefed to create a family friendly garden space with secluded secondary seating area and space for football and the trampoline.  We created a design incorporating a fire-pit area beneath a new multi stem silver birch and beside a wall of fragrant Osmanthus burkwoodii.  The planting is soft and airy and full of colour.

Wonderful project where we are repurposing an old garden shed into a new fitness and yoga studio.  The studio opens up onto a decked terrace that catches the evening sun.  We will be using big structural plants near the house with lots of colour and grasses surrounding the sun terrace and home studio. 

Steep garden site where entertainment and relaxation is key

This steeply sloped garden in South London is currently a mess of DIY paths, broken concrete and a redundant Koi crap pond.  The brief was to redesign within a tight budget a space where up to 10 can sit and eat and relax.  There is no side access and therefore we are looking to leave as much of the waste on site and composite decking provides the perfect solution to level without retaining walls and to hide the old garden beneath.

South Eden Park Road

The clients have recently build a large modern extension and are now looking to create a family space outside that brings colour and planting to a very bare space but which can also incorporate a golf putting green and garden storage.  The clients also love to entertain and so a big terrace with space for bbq was key to the design.  The house is located near a busy junction and so additional screening on the boundary line was very important.  However, the clients also wanted to retain a view of the trees surrounding the property and so a suitable solution needed to be found.

Ferris Road

A series of three modern high end town houses in South London.  The brief was to design a garden for a very small space and so a series of built in planters with floating benches was proposed.  By fixing the seating it allowed the gardens to link with the rest of the house and therefore give the impression of more space and you mix inside and outside of the living space.

Large family garden with big reflective water features surrounding the house and entertaining areas.  The garden embraces woodland setting and a meandering pathway leads you through a woodland fringe through a formal beech hedge into a productive garden and Victorian green house.
